CONCEPT

Modern Minimalist

Nestled in the rolling hills of quaint Toh Tuck neighbourhood, this three-storey house reveals a stately interior theme flanked by black overtones.

A family of four, the owners needed to make some changes in order for the house to work for their needs. This led them to launch a renovation with the help of L-Pine Design to rehash its interior design and integrate the spaces inside into a modern and functional home. Our tailored design solutions include the installation of a sliding wall to both separate and connect the main living room and the private den where the television and audio gadgets are situated. We were careful to preserve some of the architectural details and worked with an existing layout plan.

Our team created depth by carefully introducing warm woody tones in all the spaces, but without them being too overbearing. For example, the dark entryway leads to the living room, which is much lighter and brighter, thanks to polished marble flooring throughout and crisp off-white walls. Here, the back-lit feature wall in encased marble slabs was the starting point for choosing the rest of the furnishings and accessories and the organically curvaceous furniture invites the family to sit comfortably and enjoy time together. More statement walls flanked this ground floor mainly in textured wallcovering, paired with corrugated glass details.

At the bar island, the palette is consistent with the dark theme, It creates a sense of calm, while family can dine casually overlooking the dry kitchen. As a result, the atmosphere seems to embrace both the dwellers and their guests at every turn. Textures, such as wood, marble, and jacquard-like wallcovering were added to create a more sensual and cozy home, fulfilling the design goal of creating a feeling of ease for anyone who steps inside.

Another stunning addition is a custom altar, decked in ebony black wood-work and subtle fusion of oriental and mid-century details. This space appears serene yet chic for its spiritual purposes. In keeping with a modernist vibe, the artworks are minimal and kept contemporary in mostly whites to complement the daring palette and the overall mood perfectly corresponds to the young family who lives here. It is safe to say the house now has a unique vibe that leaves no one indifferent.
